Utsire
Big change #1 for this year: The entity that publishes Shrook and the other apps now has a name, and that name is Utsire. Things to know about Utsire:
- It rhymes with 'era'. Ut-zeera
- It's a tiny island off the coast of Norway
- It gives its name to two zones of the BBC shipping forecast. Listen here (real audio).
- The Norwegians are sensible enough to spell it Utsira. The English aren't.
- Everything's moved to utsire.com. Decent front page coming soon.
fondantfancies.com email addresses will of course continue to work, though it's now just the name of my blog. In case you've ever wondered, these are what Fondant Fancies look like (see how Mr Kipling changed the name to French Fancies, post-9/11?).

But the big, unanswered question is: Why??As a Norwegian, I find it very cool, but I'm still wondering how you came upon the idea of taking that as a name.

It's named after the shipping forecast zone more than the island. The shipping forecast article has a good explanation of the British fascination with it.-- Graham, January 12th, 2006 7:23 PM.
